As a way of earning money the von Trapp family toured Europe singing as the Trapp family choir. After moving from Austria during the war they settled in USA.
Maria's memoirs were adapted into the Rodgers and Hammerstein Broadway musical, The Sound of Music.
Following US citizenship the family opened von Trapp Lodge in Vermont to paying customers and is still a hotel today
