Supported by Lord Carnarvon, Howard discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun 4th November 1922. He was the only Pharaoh left to have not had his tomb discovered. It was the most intact and complete tomb ever to be found. He was buried with his two stillborn daughters. There was furniture, vases, chariots, walking sticks and gold in the entrance to the tomb. 3 years later on 28th October 1925 they opened the burial chamber and found the very famous gold coffin and death mask.
Cataloging the contents of King Tut's tomb took Howard ten years after which he retired and became an antiquities collector. He was one of the first archaeologists to catalogue and preserve his finds.
