Making history and scandal
In 1983 Williams became the first ever black Miss America. However, after receiving the honour, nude photos of Williams were splashed over the pages of Penthouse magazine and she was forced to resign her position. The photos were ones that she had posed for in earlier life and had not given her consent for publication. She attempted to sue to Penthouse, but ultimately decided the best revenge was success.
