The Facts
Between 1974 and 1991 Rader murdered 10 people, including four members of the same family. His nickname 'BTK' stood for 'Bind, Torture, Kill' - his modus operandi, and left a number of taunting notes for the police and the media, detailing his crimes. He was finally caught in February 2005 and was given 10 consecutive life sentences, without the possibility for parole until 2180.
Stranger than fiction
In 2010 Stephen King published a story called 'A Good Marriage' - a story of a wife who discovers her husband is a serial killer. King states it was inspired by the story of the BTK killer.
