The Facts
In July 1949 Haigh was found guilty of the murder of 6 people. After killing them he had devised a way to dispose of the bodies by dissolving them in a bath of acid. At his trial he claimed he had vampiric tendencies and drank the blood of his victims, but it was believed that his motive was in fact financial gain, and his claims were simply an attempt to be judged insane so as to avoid the hangman's noose. However, he was hanged for his crimes in August of that year.
