Jeff launched Amazon as an online book store from his garage, soon moving to bigger premises and going live 16th July 1995.  With no promotion, Amazon sold books across 46 countries including the US within 30 days.  It is now the largest retailer in the world.

in 2016 Forbes Magazine ranked him number 5 on their list of the world's billionaires with a reported net worth of $45.2 billion.

When starting out on Amazon, he turned a wooden door into a desk.  The desks at Amazon continue to use the same door-desk model.

Jeff and his wife have kept the names and ages of most of their children private.  

Was named Time Magazine's person of the year in 1999 and Fortune Magazine's Businessperson of the year in 2012.

Created 'Blue Origin' who have successfully launched a rocket reaching an altitude of 63 miles before returning to Earth.  It's aim is to provide low-cost access to private space travel.

Lead a privately funded Apollo 11 F-1 Engine Recovery project that recovered parts of two rocket engines from the Atlantic seafloor in March 2013. The rockets from the 1969 Apollo 11 mission remain property of NASA.

Bought the newspaper The Washington Post in 2013 for $250 million.

Was adopted by his stepfather, Mike Bezos, when he was 4 years old.

Jeff and MacKenzie have 3 sons and an adopted daughter from China
