The Rochdale Child Sexual Grooming Scandal
Maggie was central to the investigation by Greater Manchester Police into child sexual grooming rings in Rochdale in 2012. She was so appalled by how some of the victims were being portrayed as perpetrators during the trial that she resigned in order to speak out publicly against their treatment. It had been Oliver's job to convince the girls to give statements and speak out against their abusers, and was disgusted by their subsequent treatment during the trial.
Since resigning from GMP, Oliver's experiences during the investigation and subsequent trial were dramatised in the BBC production of 'Three Girls', and a further documentary 'The Betrayed Girls'. In the initial drama Oliver was portrayed by Lesley Sharp
