A legendary 'femme fatale' renowned for her exotic dancing in Paris and her many lovers who  included ministers, industrialists and generals.  

When the war broke out she became a spy for the Germans, acquiring secrets from Allied officers who she slept with.

Margaretha was eventually exposed as a spy and executed by a firing squad of twelve soldiers outside Paris at the Chateau de Vincennes.  No-one came to claim her body, which was sent to the school of medicine in Paris for lessons in dissection.  Her head was preserved at the Museum but later disappeared.
