After the Hurricane Katrina disaster in New Orleans in 2005, The Edge co-founded the Music Rising charity, aimed at providing instruments to professional musicians who had lost theirs during the tragedy. This aim has since been broadened to include providing instruments to schools and churches that were hit as well.
The Edge is often referred to as the 'anti-guitar hero' as he has a tendency to shy away from the long flashy guitar solos that other guitarists enjoy, instead favouring a more low-key but still original way. It is undeniable that his style is an instantly recognisable one.
