Co founded the band Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett, Nick Mason and Richard Wright in 1965.  He left the band in 1985 and lost his case when he attempted to prevent remaining members to continue using the name Pink Floyd. 
Pink Floyd's most successful single Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2 (1979) - selling more than 4 million copies worldwide - was written as a protest against rigid schooling, and boarding schools in particular.
Came up with the idea for The Wall after a fan made his way onto the stage and spat on him.
