At the age of 15 Kemper shot both of his paternal grandparents and was imprisoned until he was 21. After his release he went on to murder 6 female students, followed by his mother and her friend. Shortly after this he called the police and turned himself in, confessing to all 8 murders.
In Bret Easton Ellis' book 'American Psycho' the main character, serial killer Patrick Bateman, paraphrases Kemper when asked about women. Kemper stated in interview 'What do you think, now, when you see a pretty girl walking down the street?' and answered himself: 'One side of me says, 'Wow, what an attractive chick. I'd like to talk to her, date her.' The other side of me says, 'I wonder how her head would look on a stick.'"
